    2010

  • Dr. Jean Hall presented findings from the Working Healthy program evaluation to members of the Kansas Legislature at a reception hosted by the Kansas Employment First Taskforce on January 13, 2010. Click HERE to download presentation.
  • Dr. Mellard has been appointed to serve on a National Academy of Sciences committee focused on adolescent and adult literacy. The Committee on Learning Sciences: Foundations and Applications to Adolescent and Adult Literacy comprises experts from such fields as education, psychology, and neuroscience, among others. Committee members will prepare a final report identifying promising areas for future research and providing guidance for those currently providing adolescent literacy and adult education services. The committee began meeting May 21. Its final report is due in Fall 2011.
  • 2009

  • Dr. Richard Johnson will be presenting an information session about Wilson Reading Systems® successes with adult learners in six Kansas cities August 3 through 5, 2009. See http://das.kucrl.org/wilsontraining/ for more information.
  • Dr. Mellard has been appointed to serve on a National Academy of Sciences committee focused on adolescent and adult literacy.   • Dr. Hall will be presenting at the AcademyHealth 2009 Annual Research conference on Tuesday, June 30 in Chicago. She will be discussing "Working Healthy: A Medicaid Buy-In Success Story." The conference brings together health services researchers, providers and key decision makers to focus on challenges brought on by the health care delivery system.
  • Dr. Mellard will be participating at the Symposium for Scholars, Practitioners & Policy Makers, presented by Changing Conceptions of Special Education.

    The symposium will be held April 24-25 at the University of Delaware1s School of Education.

    The symposium will consist of three sessions and will feature presentations from Alfredo Artiles, Mary Brownell, Mary Beth Bruder, Sherman Dorn, Doug Fuchs, and Maggie McLaughlin. An intense discussion among the presenters and participants will follow the speeches.

  • Dr. Mellard and Dr. Deshler will be presenting at the KU-CRL Pearl Anniversary Preconference on July 14-15. It will be held at the Kansas City Marriot and Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, MO.

    Dr. Mellard and Dr. Deshler will be talking about their session, Applying an RTI Framework to Adolescent-Age Students, which will review RTI models, important decisions for their application in a middle school, and directions for developing, implementing, and scaling up.
